John Mayer en studio, ça ne plaisante pas niveau matos
Maintenant vous le savez certainement, je suis un fan de John Mayer, même quand il se sape n’importe comment. La vidéo ci-dessous montre le déroulement de l’enregistrement la chanson “In repair”. Elle date de 2005 (ce qui explique son look de jeune premier de la classe, différent du style plus camionneur tatoué qu’il a adopté récemment) et figure sur l’album Continuum.
J’attire votre attention sur l’attirail de pédales que John a sorti pour cette session d’enregistrement (à partir de 1 minute 19, “look at it the guitar show!!”). C’est le résultat de plusieurs années de shopping, mais malheureusement ells étaient inutilisées pour la plupart puisque, je cite (et traduit) John : elles habitaient dans mon appartement plus que moi (they were sleeping in my flat more than I was).
Donc à occasion spéciale, matos spécial. Cette pléiade d’effets a été sortie car ce n’est pas tous les jours que l’on réunit en studio John Mayer, Charlie Hunter (guitariste très atypique jouant sur une guitare à 8 cordes et frettes de travers !!! Il arrive à jouer la basse et la guitare solo en même temps, je vous le recommande) et le batteur Steve Jordan.
Je vous laisse regarder cette vidéo pour vous faire une idée du processus de création. Ca donne une autre perspective sur la création artistique, ça a un côté magique. Et ça prend un temps fou !!

Un bon gars ce John. Il ira certainement loin. C’est toujours étonnant de voir à quel point une alchimie entre musicien permet de générer des idées neuves. Belle trouvaille Agat !
